Two headed baby placed under police protection!

August 28th 2008 02:09
A BABY boy born with two heads has been put under police protection because of the curiosity his birth has caused among locals.

The 5.5kg boy, named Kiron, was born by caesarean on Monday in Keshobpur, 135km from Dhaka, Bangladesh.

"He has one stomach and he is eating normally with his two mouths. He has one genital organ and a full set of limbs," gynaecologist Mohamad Abdul Bari said.

"He was born from one embryo but there was a developmental anomaly."

The clinic had been unable to determine whether the baby had one or two sets of vital organs, Dr Bari said.

The baby's life was not in immediate danger but he and his mother, 22, had been moved to a larger hospital in nearby Jessore city because large crowds had gathered at the clinic, he said.

"Around 150,000 people gathered ... from different areas. It became tough for us to care for the baby.

"We called police to tackle the situation and they are guarding the hospital in Jessore as well," he said.

The newspaper Samakal said many well-wishers had left money for the baby's family.

Poor baby(s),
actually, in answer to Johnny, I saw a doco on a double headed girl, American, and they grew up playing sport and attending school, going shopping, the camera followed them around, they had friends and a loving family, so life, like that, is possible.

One thing though, I noticed that one 'girl' was dominant, heavens, what a life...

thanks for the depressing post alt_ed!

and maybe that family should thank the pesticide and other chemical companies whose pollution possibly created this nighmare?

cheers

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the comments. I guess the one thing that concerns me most, when children are born with rare or unusual conditions in countries like Bangladesh there is rarely adequate medical knowledge or access to treatments... it's just a no win situation!

Hey Lilla,

I know, things like this are a real tragedy... all you can hope is that the family give the baby the best of what they can...
