Valerie Solanas... one upset feminist!
Her SCUM Manifesto is one emotive piece, full of illogical solutions to a problem, that in part she herself is fuelling!
Life in this society being, at best, an utter bore and no aspect of society being at all relevant to women, there remains to civic-minded, responsible, thrill-seeking females only to overthrow the government, eliminate the money system, institute complete automation and destroy the male sex.
It is now technically feasible to reproduce without the aid of males (or, for that matter, females) and to produce only females. We must begin immediately to do so. Retaining the male has not even the dubious purpose of reproduction. The male is a biological accident: the Y (male) gene is an incomplete X (female) gene, that is, it has an incomplete set of chromosomes. In other words, the male is an incomplete female, a walking abortion, aborted at the gene stage. To be male is to be deficient, emotionally limited; maleness is a deficiency disease and males are emotional cripples.
Women, in other words, don't have penis envy; men have pussy envy. When the male accepts his passivity, defines himself as a woman (males as well as females think men are women and women are men), and becomes a transvestite he loses his desire to screw (or to do anything else, for that matter; he fulfills himself as a drag queen) and gets his dick chopped off. He then achieves a continuous diffuse sexual feeling from `being a woman'. Screwing is, for a man, a defense against his desire to be female.
I love this excerpt, it shows just how closed minded she herself is; firstly transvestite's/drag queens do not by definition get their dicks chopped off! Of the transex people I have encountered, they tend not to trivialise themselves by identifying as a drag queen!
Obviously, being a 'male' I take offensive to what Valerie has to say, but I respect her right to think what she wishes...

...an interesting point. My girlfriend is taking a genetics class, and she's amazed at how robust evolution has designed the genders.
Yes, the X chromosome contains around 2000 genes, the Y only has 78. The interesting thing is that the mother, carrying some genetic deficiency, can actually be corrected by the Y chromosome.
Fascinating! So while the mother contributes more genetic material, the father smooths things out. Can anyone with actual knowledge comment on this?

I'm a little curious as how men are to blame for "ugliness" though. Then again, as a whole i would say women are more attractive then men. How's that for a generalisation? Haha.

I did say on the whole though.
There may be unattractive women out there, but I still think there are more attractive women then there are attractive men. I dunno, I just think the female sex is more attractive. Unfortunately I am straight. So therin lies my dilemna.
p.s Did I mention I meant STRAIGHT men are gross yobbos? I could walk into a gay bar and spot at least in dozen men I would like to shag within minutes. But alas, they are not for me...

Oh man, I've been spending to much time reading the deranged rightwingers again. SL just informed me that Sydney Uni must be a "very liberal college" if i went there and thus my degree means nothing! Should I tell her that her new Aussie hero, John Howard went there too? Oh, and her other Aussie hero is Mel Gibson.

vewwwwwy interesting though, the balance that nature supplies, then man and woman stands up erect and learns to speak, and thinks that he can do better...hmmm.. and when has that actually worked out, in truth... nice houses, but are they in a harmonic sympathy with their enviroment?
A wise scientist and social philosopher, (so groovy I cannot remember his name.. it's just senility), said of mankind, and how it interacts with its environment; 'we fit the description of a parasite in nature', or words to that effect.
Personally, I am voting for an all male gay planet... sorry just my preference, the rest of you can go to Lesbos, or Heterosexualis Island! (JUST JOKING!!)
In closing, of my boring little contribution, I wonder the logic of it all, for, look at women who have achieved power through history and what they did with it. They can make fairly frightening and at times self indulgent leaders;
Cleopatra (Egyptian Pharaoh), Indira Gandi (PM India), Golda Meir (PM Israel), Margaret Thatcher (PM Britain), and of course, the much maligned Benazir Bhutto (PM Pakistan and assassinated during second attempt for re-election), but was she guily of all these corruption charges, or was she just another patsy; an oblique correlation with that of the hapless and naive Lee Harvey Oswald, set up by the dark side of US government.

Rather than adopting a fiercely confrontational challenge to heterosexual mores, perhaps we could engage in some witty, reasoned and deftly charming observations that advance a cause that, i personally, think has not yet run its full course.
